January 2016 - Volume 19, No. 4

1/17/2016

General Meeting and Program
Annual District IV Meeting and Luncheon, January 13, 2016
  • 9:15a–Coffee social
  • 9:30a–Business meeting (see attached agenda)
  • 10:00a–Presentation by UNF Collegiate Chapter
  • 11:15a–Lunch (see below for menu)
Meet us in the UNF Fine Arts Center, room 2411. This is located on the 2nd floor, through the double doors next to the elevator, and straight back the main corrido about 3/4 of the way down, on the right.

A catered luncheon will be served at approximately 11:15a in the Faculty Lounge inside Osprey Cafe, overlooking Candy Cane Lake. This is in Osprey Commons, building 16, nearby the Fine Arts Center.

Be sure to stop at the Parking Office on your way into campus to purchase a daily parking permit. This is $5 per car. This will allow you to park on the second through fourth floors of the adjacent garage.

We are excited to have many thriving MTNA Collegiate Chapters across Florida, and our very own at UNF! The Collegiate Chapter will be giving a presentation that they will be taking on the road the next day and also presenting at other MTNA events. It is important that we support our Collegiate Chapter, since they are JMTA’s next generation!

You do not need to RSVP for lunch if you just wish to attend the meeting and presentation.

Lorraine Eaton, District IV President

President’s Pen
Happy New Year! I hope to be able to greet you this New Year at the District 4 Annual meeting and presentation by members of the UNF Collegiate Chapter on Wed, January 13. Maybe we’ll even be able to chat over lunch and compare notes about this current teaching year. For JMTA, it has been a busy one with the Piano Festival event during the first semester and preparing students for the District Student Day evaluation program.

Now is the time to research opportunities for your students during the remainder of the school year. During March will be the Senior Scholarship audition and a Student Recital. In the month of April will be the Community Service recital for advanced students at the Proton Therapy Institute and District Concerto competition. May 14 District 4 will host the FSMTA Competitions at Jacksonville University – if you have never had students participate in these events – volunteer to help in some capacity or just attend to see the fine caliber of contestants from throughout the state. Information on all of these events can be found at www.jmta.org.

Don’t forget to provide some enrichment time for yourself during the second semester either.

JMTA programs in February and March will provide you with new insight and in April come to hear our student winner’s performance and prepare to perform yourself in the District 4 teacher recital. Join me in celebrating another year Making Music Together in May with our meeting, program of sharing best ideas from this teaching year and luncheon.

Paulette Kilts, JMTA President
