JMTA Meeting and Program JMTA Meeting - April 11, 2012
849 Park Street Jacksonville, Florida The April 11 meeting will be held at Riverside Presbyterian Church in Riverside. The concerto winners will perform for us after the business meeting. Please join us for an informative meeting and wonderful performances. The May meeting will be held at Aida Ribeiro’s home. The winner of the scholarship audition will be unable to perform. Michael Mastronicola has graciously agreed to present a lecture/performance for us. Keep the date of May 9 open for this final meeting of the year. From the President’s Pen Come join us at this month’s meeting when we hear the beautiful music from our Concerto winners! This is always an inspiring program! Beth Martelli March General Minutes JMTA GENERAL MEETING – March 14, 2012 Home of Mary Lou Krosnick Members Present: (12) Lorraine Eaton, Mary Lou Krosnick, Kamila Shahtakhtinskaya, Paulette Kilts, Erin Bennett, Lydia Sanchez, Lynn Freeman, Susan Figlietti, Sandra Stewart, Mary Wingfield, Heather Schaeffer, Denise Homsley. Guests Present: (3) Lana DeCoto (sister of Paulette Kilts), Alicia Hou, and her mother, Hong Sheng. In President Beth Martelli’s absence, Vice-President Lorraine Eaton called the meeting to order at 9:45 a.m. The minutes were read and approved. Paulette Kilts gave the Treasurer’s Report. Paulette stated that the 24 month CD needs to be renewed in February 2013. Committee Reports: Altruistic: Mary Wingfield brought flowers for Lydia Sanchez and Mary Lou Krosnick. Mary thanked Mary Lou for hosting us in her home. Concerto Competition: Mary Wingfield reported Concerto Competition will be held on March 17, 9:30 am – 2:00 pm at Jacksonville University. Historian: Lorraine Eaton inquired if anyone had not received an invitation to join the JMTA group room on the Walgreens website. Membership: Lorraine reminded everyone that Sandra Stewart has a new email address: [email protected] Jeannie Blazs new email address is: [email protected] Lorraine also reminded everyone that updated contact information for all members may be found on the fmta.org website. Provisional: Jeannie Blazs is the new Provisional Chair. There are currently two provisional members. Programs: It was announced that today’s program will be presented by Mary Lou Krosnick. The April 11 JMTA meeting, held at Riverside Presbyterian Church, will feature the District Concerto winners. Publicity: Laura Fitts’ email address: [email protected] Scholarship: Two students auditioned at the Scholarship competition, held March 10, 2012: Anna Yu, a student of Mary Lou Krosnick, and Cameron Michaels, a student of Sandra Stewart. It was announced that Anna Yu is the winner. Student Recitals: Sandra Stewart reported the Student Recital held on March 11 at Jacksonville University was a great success, with 17 teachers participating. Dr. Stewart also distributed guidelines for the recital at the Proton Therapy Institute on April 17, 2012, 6:00-7:30 pm. April 10 is the deadline for Sandra to receive information for students wishing to perform in the recital. Please note that there is an updated membership directory on the website effective April 3, 2012. JMTA Community Recital Our community recital will again take place at the Proton Therapy Institute in downtown Jacksonville. It is scheduled for Tuesday, April 17 at 6:00-7:30 p.m. This is an excellent opportunity for late-intermediate and advanced students to perform in public. Please send the information to Sandy Stewart no later than April 10. We already have 5 students entered. If your student has two pieces, send in titles, composers and exact timing for both.
