JMTA Meeting and Program JMTA Meeting - February 13, 2013
Terry Concert Hall Jacksonville, Florida The next JMTA meeting will be held on Wednesday, February 13, at Jacksonville University. Our program will be given by Dr. Scott Watkins. He will share with us his experiences in China and relate how their program for piano differs. We will meet in Terry Concert Hall in the Lobby area. Parking is on the right as you enter the campus; Terry Concert Hall is the first building on the left. Join us at 9:30 for the meeting. From the President’s Pen I am looking forward to seeing you all at Jacksonville University at our next meeting, February 13, to hear Scott Watkins’ presentation. Student Day was another success and we thank Denise Homsley for all her hard work she puts into this event! Please be sure to submit your Honors students into the Honors Recital for this Sunday. It is truly a wonderful time spent listening to the hard work and dedication by these students. We would not be a strong organization if we did not have membership out there putting in extra hours. Thank you to JMTA! President Beth Martelli discussed a conversation she had with a parent of one of her students from Douglas Anderson who will be attending the European music camp this summer. She mentioned that JMTA might be able to help by using sponsoring a fundraising recital March 1 by DA students. The Mom (Laura Skiles) requested that donation checks be written to JMTA and then one check be written to Boukubza Academy Summer Study. Paulette suggested that Beth contact Vera Watson at DA for further information as she had reservations about JMTA participating in this way. Paulette expressed concerns about using the JMTA 501c3 and Florida solicitation rights for this event since we are not legally affiliated with DA as it is a public school. Michelle Huang invited everyone to attend her recital on February 22, 2013. Beth encouraged everyone to stay for the January program. Dr. Erin Bennett will discuss ways to prepare a high school student for college auditions. The meeting adjourned at 10:10 a.m. Respectfully submitted, Denise Homsley JMTA Recording Secretary Scholarship Audition Scholarship Audition is scheduled for March 9, 2013 at Riverside Presbyterian starting at 8:30 am.
