President’s Pen
I’m excited for this month’s program–one of my favorite–the presentation of the Multi Piano Festival music!  This festival is such a big undertaking, we can only do it every few years.  But that makes it all the more special in my eyes.  I love how it gives my solo piano students experience working with an ensemble and a conductor at a young age.  And the performance night itself, we are all dressed up, and the energy is contagious.  And us teachers even get a chance to perform too! If you’ve not participated in this festival before, you’ll definitely want to come to this month’s meeting to get all the details!  And if you have participated before, you know the presentation of music is a valuable time to listen to every single program piece be performed so you can choose just the right piece for each of your students.  See you there!
Lorraine Eaton, President

JMTA Multi-Piano Festival “The World is a Stage”
Plans are underway for the next Multi-Piano Festival scheduled for Saturday, November 21, 2015.  “The World is a Stage” will feature music with opera and musical theater themes. With the financial assistance of the President’s Fund and the UNF Music Department, we will be performing in Lazarra Hall on the UNF campus.

Student participants will range from Levels 1 – 5, Advanced (any qualified high school student) and teacher performers.  All student performers are invited to enter the program design contest with the chance to win $50 if their design is selected.

A featured duet team performing advanced repertoire will be selected by audition to perform one 4 hand duet on the program.  This duet repertoire should follow the theme of the event – opera or musical theater.
Conductors have been secured for the Festival.  Conductors for student groups will be Beth Martelli, Dr. Michael Mastronicola, Maureen Rhodes, and Dr. Sandra Stewart.  The conductor for the teachers group will be Dr. Merril J. Palmer.

Plan now to attend the JMTA program on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at Keyboard Connection.  It will feature Betty Atkinson and Dr. Sandra Stewart performing the Piano Festival student and teacher repertoire.  Schedules and forms will be available to teachers at this program for the Piano Festival.  Repertoire will be available to purchase or order from Keyboard Connection.
It is a unique opportunity for our students, if you have not had students participate in the past consider it this year.

Paulette Kilts and Lindsay Hardee, co-chairs
