JMTA Meeting and Program JMTA Meeting - May 8, 2013
720 Mandalay Rd. Jacksonville, Florida 32216 On Wednesday, May 8, we will meet for our final meeting of the year. Please join us as we install our new set of officers and share in a caterer lunch. We are meeting at Holiday Hill Baptist Church, 720 Mandaly Road, 32216. Directions: Heading east on Atlantic (from University) take a right on Glynlea Road (at Grace Methodist). Veer to the left at Altima Road. At the second stop sign turn right on Mandalay Road. Church is immediately on the right. There are two churches in a row, Holiday Hill Baptist Church is the first one. Thanks to Beth for reserving her church for our meeting. From the President’s Pen I’ve had such a wonderful two years as president of JMTA! I thank all my officers for making my job easy I know Lorraine Eaton be a wonderful president and I look forward to our years ahead! Please join us Wednesday, May 8th, for our final meeting before the summer break. We’ll have yummy food and great fellowship at my church, Holiday Hill Baptist Church. Beth Martelli JMTA General Minutes JMTA General Meeting – April 10, 2013 Riverside Presbyterian Church Members Present: (9) Beth Martelli, Paulette Kilts, Lynn Freeman, Lorraine Eaton, Mary Wingfield, Gavin Taylor, Lisa Smith, Lydia Sanchez, Denise Homsley, and one guest (Lydia Sanchez’s sister). President Beth Martelli called the meeting to order at 9:35 a.m. Minutes were read by Denise Homsley. Approved. Paulette Kilts gave the Treasurer’s Report. Committee Reports: Membership: Lorraine Eaton reminded members to renew their dues. Altruistic: Mary Wingfield reported that she sent “Thank You” cards to Riverside Presbyterian and Florida State College of Jacksonville. Concerto Competition: Mary Wingfield reported on the recently held Competition. High Notes: Next deadline is April 20. Nominating: President Beth Martelli announced the nominees for offices for the upcoming term:
Piano Festival: Paulette Kilts suggested we begin discussion for a 2014 Piano Festival. Program: At the May 8th meeting the new officers will be installed. This will be followed by a luncheon. Provisional: Lorraine reported that Heather Schaeffer is currently the only provisional member. Scholarship: Andrew Callahan, this years winner will be performing after the meeting today. He will be presented a check in the amount of $1,000. Social: Thanks was extended to Lydia for the delicious refreshments. Student Day: Denise Homsley announced that the Student Day medals and certificates will be distributed at the next meeting. Student Recital: A recital will be held at the Proton Therapy Institute on April 16. Names of students interested in performing should be submitted to Sandra Stewart. Old Business: President Martelli encouraged everyone to help with the upcoming FSMTA Conference. The next Conference committee meeting will be April 26 at Keyboard Connection. New Business: A Teachers Recital will be held at 6:00 pm on April 27 in the home of Aaron and Mary Lou Krosnick. Those planning to attend are asked to bring a plate of finger food. Total dues are $134. I’ve already sent mine in, have you? Go ahead and do it now before you forget! Please be sure to double check all your information on the renewal form before sending it in and make any changes as necessary. This is the information we use to put in the yearly directory. Have you filled out the membership survey yet? We want as many members as possible to attend our monthly meetings where important information on student opportunities are discussed and programs to refresh our teaching are presented.
