District IV Annual Meeting - November 16, 2012
  • 11:30 A.M. – Program: District IV Meeting
  • University Club
  • 1301 Riverplace Blvd.
  • Jacksonville, Florida
The annual District IV meeting will be held on Friday, November 16, 2012 at 11:30 a.m. at the University Club in Jacksonville. This will be an a la carte luncheon with time to share experiences about the conference in Boca Raton as well as to be together as a district. Although the luncheon will start at 11:30, if there are persons wishing to come but will arrive late, let me know as this is possible with the menu choices. Please be prepared to write a check for your lunch to Liz Kiebler at that time. The University Club is located at 1301 Riverplace Blvd on the top floor.  Please RSVP to Liz Kiebler by Monday, November 12th, by 3:00 pm. This is a very nice facility and the food is excellent, so I hope as many people as possible will be able to attend. With no set agenda, people will be able to eat and leave at a reasonable time. I hope to see you  there.

District Student Day 2013
District IV Student Day is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, February 2, 2013 at FSCJ, South Campus. At Student Day 2013 students will have the opportunity to excel at and showcase their musical performance, technique, aural skills and knowledge of music theory.  The registration deadline will be December 15, 2012.

The FSMTA District Student Day program is one of the most comprehensive evaluation programs available. Preparation for Student Day sharpens the musical skills of every student. Focused attention to musical details, technique, theory, ear training, and memorizing all serve to cultivate a finer musician, and it all culminates on Student Day where students gather at Florida State College, Jacksonville to test their mettle. Students also have the opportunity to meet fellow musicians as they attend recitals and wait to take their exams.

Student Day is a rich, rewarding experience, and when students see their certificates, and the medals are pinned or draped on their neck – they know it was worth every minute!

Please watch for date confirmation, and begin preparing your students to experience this great event!

A sympathy note was sent to the family of Verdie Frampton (on her passing) with mention of the $50 donation to JMTA scholarship fund in her honor.  Verdie had a true love for music education, and we will all miss her. -Mary Wingfield
