 Presidents Pen
Thank you everyone for voting me in as your JMTA President for the next term.  I am truly honored and appreciate your kind words of support and  advice.
I am sure each of us has ideas concerning various aspects of our  organization.  As president, I have many ideas I will work on bringing to fruition  over the next two years.  But, just because you are not President does  not mean your voice or ideas do not matter!  In fact, one of my main  goals is to get more of the membership involved in our monthly and  yearly activities.  I have been in JMTA since 2001, and there are many  names I see on the membership roster every year that I have never even  met!  I understand many of you have jobs and schedules that preclude you from attending our monthly meetings.  Although these meetings are the  best way to know what is going on, they are certainly not the only way  to be involved!  (Also, please note on the calendar this year we will  have one meeting on a Tuesday, and one on a Friday.)

There are many duties that work together to make this organization run smoothly and  efficiently.  Student Day, Student Recitals, Concerto Competition, etc.; these things don’t just run themselves!  We need YOU!  Only a little of your time is needed.  You pay dues of $128 a year to be a part of this  organization (including FSMTA and MTNA).  Don’t just write a check and  forget it.  Make your hard-earned money work!

Do you know who I am?  I want to be able to put a face to all 60+ names in our directory!

See you at the next meeting!
-Lorraine Eaton, JMTA President

JMTA STUDENT RECITALS
2013-2014
Student recitals will be held at 3 p.m. on the following dates:
  • October 13 – Peace Presbyterian Church, 2300 Southside Blvd.
  • December 8 – Christian Family Chapel (Link Room) 10365 St. Augustine Road.
  • March 9 – Deermeadows Baptist Church, 9780 Baymeadows Road.

Each student must pay a $5.00 participation fee. Please make copies of the form below for each student entered.

The following guidelines will help teachers to prepare:
  1. Teachers may have 4-5 students participate; however, the total performance time may not exceed 15 minutes for teachers with advanced students. Each student plays only one piece or movement.
  2. Solo performances are to be MEMORIZED. Duets may use music.
  3. Teachers are required to bring a PLATE of cookies. Serving platters will not be provided!
  4. Please stress to the students the importance of proper dress and that they are expected to remain for the entire performance. If a student does not have the whole afternoon free, ask them to wait until the next recital date. Instruct your students on the proper way to take a bow on stage.
  5. Students should arrive 15 minutes early to be seated and receive instructions!
  6. Teachers are required to attend in order to have students participate. Each teacher will be asked to assist with the program, either by bringing needed items, seating students, or setting up and serving refreshments.
  7. Information must be submitted ONE WEEK IN ADVANCE to ensure that student names will be included on the program. Please adhere to this deadline by sending the form below    and a check for the total amount (made to JMTA) to Sandra Stewart, 4782 Harpers Ferry Lane, Jax 32257.
